New Song: Tinie Tempah – ‘Text From Your Ex (ft. Tinashe)’

Published: Friday 20th Jan 2017 by Sam

Tinie Tempah has tapped Tinashe for his latest single.

Christened ‘Text From Your Ex,’ the track is lifted from the UK Rap star’s third studio album ‘Youth.’

With the LP being delayed in earnest, can ‘Text’ gift the BET and BRIT Award winning MC the momentum he needs?

Take a listen below and let us know…

Ever heard a track that doesn’t qualify as “great” song, but is a solid, smart single?

‘Text’ packs all the right ingredients of a Brit hit – it’s catchy, radio-ready, and a touch nostalgic (see: early 00’s UK Urban scene).

Given the feature, we’d have hoped for something with a bit more global appeal – so as to benefit both Tinie and Tinashe on a broader scale.

But, still, not bad.

Your thoughts?

    She sings?

The song does benefit tinashe on a broader scale. It introduces her to the British audience. Tinie charts well over here and the GP haven’t heard of tinashe since All my friends. She don’t have a major following here – see her cancelled U.K. tour.
Hopefully this works for her. I won’t listen to the song cos I don’t like tinie tempah. But all the best…

She does have a following here she’s just not promoted her by her label the Jayride tour actually sold out she had to add other dates, it was cancelled because the album was pushed back so there was no point in doing a promotional tour with no product to promote, I do agree with you though this will broaden her fanbase in the UK for sure she’s amazing

I had tickets for that tour in KOKO. KOKO don’t hold a lot of people. Her following isn’t big enough for her label to care about us. Let’s be honest. She has enough material to do an hour long set. She continued the American leg, but skipped us using that lame excuse. We didn’t care for joyride. I bought my ticket based off of the songs she already had.
Her label just didn’t want to waste their money because she doesn’t have a big following here. 2 On and All my friends are her only hits here. And All my friends she’s credited as a feature.

Sorry but can we get real? Tinashe is beautiful and a talented song writer but she ain’t a rising star as a solo artist. Her music is lackluster. She’s in the same vein as Rita Ora and nicole scherzinger in that she hasn’t found a lane that works for her or a cohesive sound. She’s very generic. I do wish her success though because she is talented and could easily earn her coin by continuing to write songs and feature on others. But as it’s been said before, some people don’t have “it” as singer e.g. Ina Wroldsen (wikipedia her if you don’t know who she is)

Wow. So she’s the one who sang Sigma’s ‘Find Me’ I always thought that was a great vocal on a Pop song, if you’re I listen to the background note she hits at 2:45 I was like – okaaay you SANG girl.

Totally agree, Tinashe could be and Ina or Sia in time because this solo career is a whole lot of generic. No shade.

I agree Ina does have a great voice she also sang the Disciples & Calvin Harris song too. But my point was she’s immensely talented but hasn’t caught the public’s eye as a solo singer.

Tinashe def has a cohesive sound and her own lane. I can tell this comment is coming from someone who haven’t listen to tinashes music apart from the singles. He music is so cohesive that people called night ride one big song. She is far different than Nicole and Rita, now those girls are completely lost as artist and doesn’t have a sound.

Nah mate. I’ve listened to tinashe albums and mixtapes, it’s all the same Base heavy generic recycled faux urban beats. They mask the thin timbre of her voice. With joyride she’s produced the most generic sounding average urban pop in the same vein as Christina Milian’s failed album launch circa 2008+, tearri mari etc. No shade but some poeple are better off behind the scenes. You can still be uvery successful

    This tune is a BANGER!!!!

Sounds like Ciara 2000 and late! It’s a fresh revival of a dated sound’! Believe it or not it can actually be what catapults her into the upper echelon of the pop scene. It’s definitely catchy and will do good on radio/club scene. Not what I expected from someone of her caliber. But smart move.

The song is cute. Get that U.K. money, Tonashe!

  7. Meme January 20, 2017

Sounds so good. I really like it…Tinashe can do no wrong

  8. Kwinzy January 20, 2017

A BOP! Miami bass realness mixed with Artful Dodger/Craig David vibes

  9. J-Mar January 20, 2017

    Poor Tinashe

  10. LiLi’n’RiRi January 21, 2017

Y’all play too much. Tinashe has a sound, y’all obviously haven’t listened to her debut Aquarius, which is in my opinion the best full LP released from an alternative rnb sinnger yet. She just needs hits
